Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
  • Schedule: No blocked schedule requests
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4
  • Scrubs Color: Royal Blue
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly starts (3/9 and 3/23; 3/9 starts prioritized)
  • Local candidates within 75 miles considered at a reduced rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome
  • Local candidates are eligible

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in MS/Tele specialty
  • Also accepting RNs with Emergency Department (ED) or Clinical Evaluation Unit backgrounds
  • Required charting experience with EPIC system

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only

Preferred Certifications

  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Training provided onsite if not currently held

Licensure

  • Must hold a current North Carolina RN license or a Compact RN license

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work MS/Tele nursing duties with 1:4 patient ratio
  • Weekend coverage every other weekend
  • Flu vaccination required; no exemptions or declinations accepted

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not explicitly required; first-time travelers are accepted

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Up-to-date immunizations including:
    • Flu vaccine (required for new candidates starting October-March)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or positive antibody titers
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap every 10 years
    • Polio vaccine or attestation
  • Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) if applicable

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and other relevant checks
  • Employment application and 7 years of work history documented
  • Two professional references from employment within 12 months, including at least one supervisor
  • Competency exams and unit-specific skills checklists required
  • Facility-specific online modules and competency checklists to be completed prior to or shortly after start
  • Setup of a facility guest account prior to clearance is mandatory for access to orientation and work systems

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and documentation deadlines
  • Orientation and training include CPI for behavioral health or ER units as needed
  • Candidates switching between facilities must reactivate guest accounts if previously terminated
