Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Setting: Outpatient Clinic (No hospital coverage)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5x8 hours, no call, no weekends
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform pulmonary function testing (PFT) and various breathing assessments to assist provider treatment plans.
- Patient population includes common respiratory distress diagnoses such as pneumonia, asthma, tuberculosis, emphysema, COPD, chest infections, lung nodules, etc.
- Conduct oxygen assessments, 2-channel monitoring, 6-minute walk tests, long and short PFTs, and arterial blood gases (ABGs).
- Work is entirely clinic-based.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in pulmonary function testing or related respiratory diagnostics (higher experience requirement applies).
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required).
- Skills and knowledge in:
- Pulmonary function test lab experience
- ARDS, aspiration, bronchoscopy
- COVID, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia
- Use of hand-held nebulizers, BiPAP, CPAP
- ABG interpretation
- Basic EKG interpretation
- Experience with equipment such as PFT machines, NIOX, and 2-channel monitors.
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) preferred.
- Pending state license acceptable.
- State license verification required (Wisconsin or compact license applicable).
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) but BLS is the primary certification noted.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 12 months.
- Government-issued photo ID.
- I9 and E-Verify documentation.
- Residency declaration if working on a compact license in a different state.
- Fit mask testing and OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Drug screening within 12 months.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
- COVID vaccination preferred.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and documentation.
- Skills checklist required.
- Photo for badge (passport style, plain background).
Additional Notes
- All work is outpatient with no hospital coverage.
- No weekends or call responsibilities.
- Candidates will be fit tested onsite during the first week of orientation.
- Candidates must complete all required compliance modules and facility-specific documents prior to or shortly after start.
- This position accepts first-time travelers; prior travel experience is not required.
