Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Work in the Innovation Design Unit (IDU), an inpatient care unit focused on designing, testing, and validating new models of care, innovative technology, and facility design.
• 17 patient rooms divided into zones testing various room designs, equipment, and processes.
• Patient population: Adult medical-surgical patients; future plans to include Medical-Surgical and Progressive Care levels.
• Primary nursing care model: 1 RN assigned to a group of patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Days: 1:4-5
  • Nights: 1:5-6

Key Responsibilities & Environment

• Care for adult medical-surgical patients; no labor and delivery or pediatrics.
• Drip infusions required on all floors.
• EPIC electronic charting system experience required.
• Floating within scope to various units including neuro, trauma, observation, and others.
• Work with care teams including CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs.
• 100% nicotine-free facility.

Schedule & Work Requirements

• Shift options: 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Contract options: 13 or 26 weeks.
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat).
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: Up to 2 weeks permitted, with manager approval for additional requests.
• Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
• Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility).
• Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking delayed by 6 weeks.
• Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation).

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience in a large, urban hospital.
• Prior travel experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
• Certifications:

  • BLS required
  • ACLS preferred
• EPIC charting experience required.

Additional Requirements & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background check within 30 days of start, including nationwide and federal enhanced searches.
• SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
• Education verification required.
• State license verification and NURSYS verification required prior to start.
• Various health documents required including:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Tdap vaccine (within last 10 years)
  • TB testing (annual)
  • MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella vaccination or titers
  • Drug screening within 60 days of start and annually
  • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
  • COVID vaccine preferred (exemptions accepted)
• Annual skills checklist required.
• References: 2 work references from past 2 years required.
