Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Experience: Prefer close to 2 years of experience (minimum 2 years recommended)
- Licensure: Ohio State license required for RRTs
- References:
- 2 supervisory or manager references required (Charge RN acceptable for one)
- Peer references are not acceptable
- Floating: Required for most positions
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certification required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - AHA AAP certification required (for NICU RNs)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - as applicable
- NBRC certification required for RRTs
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - passing score required
- Competency Exam - passing score required
Licenses & Verifications
- Ohio State or Compact RN license verification (for RNs)
- Ohio State license verification for RRTs (location on license must match photo ID)
- NURSYS verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP as applicable
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked)
- Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or in-house verification if needed
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) within 60 days of start, must be updated for each new contract
- Sex offender search within 30 days of start
- State-specific searches (Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, Abuse Registry) within 30 days of start
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 60 days of start
- Employment application and resume required
- Unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (within 1 year of start) or signed Infection Control Policy in lieu of physical exam
- N95 Fit Testing required within 1 year of start, updated annually
- TDAP vaccine required within 10 years of start (vaccine must be completed after age 11)
- TB testing options:
- 2 PPDs (first within 12 months, second within 90 days) OR
- QGOLD/TSPOT (IGRA) within 12 months
- For positive TB results, additional documentation and treatment required
- Flu vaccine required October 31 - May 31 (declination not accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
- Immunizations for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declination acceptable if negative/equivocal titer)
- Varicella
- TB Questionnaire and other facility-specific health documents required prior to start
Additional Notes
- Traveler's legal name must match all licenses and certifications exactly (no nicknames or misspellings)
- Ohio Driver’s License address must not be within 60 miles of the facility (local travelers not accepted)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Floating to other units is expected for most assignments
This position is ideal for Respiratory Therapists with NICU experience who meet Ohio licensure requirements and are comfortable with floating and comprehensive compliance documentation.
