Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MedSurg) - Travel/Contract

Job Details

• Shift: Nights, every other week (EOW)
• Schedule Option: 4x12 hour shifts available
• Start Date: ASAP
• Float and Possible Charge Nurse duties as needed
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Skills Required:

  • IV starts
  • Isolation Precautions
  • Wound Care / Wound Vac
• Preferred Experience:

  • Level II Trauma experience preferred
  • Travel experience preferred (not required)
• Licensure: Alabama RN license required
• Certifications:

  • Current BLS (AHA or ARC) required
  • NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Other Requirements:

  • 30-minute lunch break required, no skipped meals
  • Locals considered within a 60-mile radius
  • Schedules are fixed once contract is confirmed; no changes or accommodations for other contracts/per diem schedules

Required Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (MedSurg)

Required Documents & Compliance

• Licenses & Certifications:

  • Alabama RN license verification (primary source)
  • Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
  • NIH Stroke Certification preferred
  • ACLS and PALS required based on unit (not required for MedSurg RN)
  • National certification/verification as applicable
  • NURSYS verification prior to start

• Background Checks:

  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required with all aliases
  • Social Security number required for candidate access (copy of card not required unless used for I9)

• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start (annual expiration required for travel candidates)
  • Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within past 12 months or TB questionnaire if test expires during assignment
  • MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination, history, or positive titer with boosters if needed
  • 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or declination required year-round (mask required if declined)

• Other:

  • Skills checklist required annually
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required to meet Joint Commission standards
  • Must review and sign traveler attendance policy prior to start

Notes

• This position requires strict adherence to schedule with no adjustments after contract confirmation.
• Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Candidates must be prepared to float and potentially take charge nurse responsibilities.
• The patient population is primarily adults and geriatrics in a MedSurg setting with some trauma exposure preferred.
