Registered Nurse (Critical Care) - Travel/Contract
Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Critical Care RN is responsible for delivering patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Key responsibilities include:
- Clear oral and written communication to staff and patients regarding treatment plans
- Sensitivity to patients' physical, spiritual, and emotional needs and evaluating care response
- Supporting organizational programs to ensure quality patient care
- Efficient management of department and patient activities
- Providing quality customer service to patients, families, coworkers, and interdisciplinary team members
Requirements
Experience
- At least 1 year of recent Critical Care experience in a similar healthcare setting
- Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
Education & Licensure
- Minimum: 2-Year Degree (Preferred: 4-Year Degree)
- Current RN licensure for Texas
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)
Certifications (as applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
Language
- English (Speak, Read, Write)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Education verification (highest level)
- Drug screening (negative 10-panel within 90 days of start)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
Additional Notes
- No local candidates residing in specified counties (including Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, and others)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
- Work history verification for the past 7 years required
- Complete application/resume required
