Registered Nurse (Critical Care) - Travel/Contract

Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

The Critical Care RN is responsible for delivering patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Key responsibilities include:

• Clear oral and written communication to staff and patients regarding treatment plans
• Sensitivity to patients' physical, spiritual, and emotional needs and evaluating care response
• Supporting organizational programs to ensure quality patient care
• Efficient management of department and patient activities
• Providing quality customer service to patients, families, coworkers, and interdisciplinary team members

Requirements

Experience

• At least 1 year of recent Critical Care experience in a similar healthcare setting
• Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)

Education & Licensure

• Minimum: 2-Year Degree (Preferred: 4-Year Degree)
• Current RN licensure for Texas
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)

Certifications (as applicable)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
• CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Language

• English (Speak, Read, Write)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Education verification (highest level)
• Drug screening (negative 10-panel within 90 days of start)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)

Additional Notes

• No local candidates residing in specified counties (including Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, and others)
• Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
• Work history verification for the past 7 years required
