• Position: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse
• Location: Orange, California
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (6:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Hours per Week: 40 hours
• Call Requirement: Yes; 5 weekdays and 2 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Job Description

• Work in a fast-paced procedure center environment primarily with inpatient/outpatient pediatric patients; adults on rare occasions.
• Provide care for minor surgical cases including ENT, plastics, general surgery, ophthalmology, urology, dentistry, and oncology.
• General surgery experience is required.
• EMR experience is required (documentation system: SurgiNet/Cerner).
• Endoscopy experience is a plus; training available if needed.
• Additional specialty experience in GI and pulmonary is beneficial.
• Candidate should have experience in the majority of the listed specialties.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in California
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience, with pediatrics experience within the last year
• Pediatric Operating Room (OR) experience
• General surgery experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Criminal background check within 60 days of start (7-year search including SSN trace, education verification, national databases, and aliases).
• SAM/EPLS and OIG checks within 60 days of start.
• Verification of highest applicable degree or diploma required.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug test within 60 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap vaccine required (TD or Dtap not acceptable).
  • IGRA or 2-step PPD TB test within 60 days of start (or valid chest X-ray if positive TB history).
  • Annual TB questionnaire.
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if titers low/negative.
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, declination, or proof of 3-shot series.
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
• Mask fit testing required prior to start (cannot be completed onsite). Acceptable masks include 9205+, 3M 8210, 8110s, and 1804.
• Eye exam (in-person visual acuity) and color blind exam (Ishihara test) required prior to start.
• References: Two supervisor references required (charge RN or floor supervisor acceptable).
• Work history verification: Minimum 2 previous employers covering up to 7 years of relevant experience, must be complete prior to start.

Orientation & Facility Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to starting clinical work (approximately 6-8 hours).
• Must complete and sign various facility documents including job description acknowledgment, non-disclosure agreement, safety manual, dress code acknowledgment (including fingernail hygiene policy), and professional accountability forms.
• Photo for badge must be professional and submitted timely.
• Badge pickup and security screening required on first shift.
• Pyxis access request form must be completed prior to start.
• Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exams specific to pediatrics.
• Must complete TB screening form if applicable.
• Must complete COVID-19 related exemption forms if applicable (religious or medical).
• Radiation badge required for this position; provided by the facility.
