ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per month
• Call Requirement: None
• Float Requirement: Yes, to other ICUs including MICU, Neuro, TICU, Burn units
• Holiday Requirement: Yes
• Scrubs Color: Navy blue
• Strict 5-day maximum Return to Office (RTO) policy

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Competencies & Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required within 12 months of start, updated annually, minimum score 80%)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 12 months of start, updated annually, minimum score 80%)
• Core Competency Exams Part I, II, and III (required annually)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:

  • Social Security Trace
  • Counties, Nationwide, Sex Offender, Federal Extended, FACIS Level 3
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Sex Offender Search as per client request
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by employer but required by placement agency)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per updated guidelines (two-step skin test or equivalent)
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months of start)
• Seasonal Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions and declinations accepted
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on sign-on date)

Additional Notes

• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification may be required depending on unit assignment; CPI Blue Card accepted and can be completed onsite within 30 days of start if not already certified
• Strict adherence to employee appearance policy
• Must be able to float to multiple ICU units as needed

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment in a high-acuity ICU setting with a 1:2 patient ratio and multiple floating opportunities.
