ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per month
- Call Requirement: None
- Float Requirement: Yes, to other ICUs including MICU, Neuro, TICU, Burn units
- Holiday Requirement: Yes
- Scrubs Color: Navy blue
- Strict 5-day maximum Return to Office (RTO) policy
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Competencies & Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required within 12 months of start, updated annually, minimum score 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 12 months of start, updated annually, minimum score 80%)
- Core Competency Exams Part I, II, and III (required annually)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
- Social Security Trace
- Counties, Nationwide, Sex Offender, Federal Extended, FACIS Level 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Sex Offender Search as per client request
- Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by employer but required by placement agency)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per updated guidelines (two-step skin test or equivalent)
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months of start)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions and declinations accepted
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on sign-on date)
Additional Notes
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification may be required depending on unit assignment; CPI Blue Card accepted and can be completed onsite within 30 days of start if not already certified
- Strict adherence to employee appearance policy
- Must be able to float to multiple ICU units as needed
