Job Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in MS/Telemetry
- Ratios: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call Requirement: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs (may float between like units)
- Block Scheduling: Open to accommodating
- Locals: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Work Restrictions: Per manager's discretion
- Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; after that, all contracted shifts are guaranteed
- Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
- Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning

Certifications & Competencies Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or Military certification required for units including ED, Pediatric ED, Psych ED, ICUs, PCUs, PACU, Step Down, Special Procedures, EP, and preferred units like CSOR and SSS
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or Military required (especially for Sonographers & Radiology Techs)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA or Military required for ED, OR, Pediatric ED, PICU, and some ICU/PACU units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, FCCU, NICU
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for ED, Psych ED, ICUs, Step Down, Med Surg, L&D, Express Care; must be updated annually
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for multiple units including ICUs, Cath Lab, Med Surg, Telemetry, PCU, Pediatrics, Radiology, Step Down, and others. Candidates have 3 attempts to pass with 80% or higher; remediation required after failures
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required annually via Relias; advanced and basic levels depending on unit assignment; minimum 80% to pass with 3 attempts allowed
Background & Health Requirements
- Background Check: Required within 6 months of start; must include SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcript acceptable if verification unavailable
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C; must be updated annually
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years; no declinations accepted for new hires)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted for new hires
- Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
- Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted for new hires
- TB Screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual renewal required
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (specific substances listed)
- Flu Vaccine: Required year-round; medical or religious exemptions require facility-approved documentation; must be updated annually
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but documentation accepted

- Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year before returning as traveler; max 2 contracts with one extension allowed, then 6 months off before returning
