Job Overview
- Employment Type: Per Diem
- Orientation held near Portland Medical Center every other Monday (specific dates provided)
- Clinicians' badges allow floating to multiple Providence locations in Oregon (including Providence Seaside Hospital and others)
- Floating assignments given 2 hours before shift confirmation
- Charting system: Epic
- Medication system: Pyxis
- Separation policy: 3-month separation required between assignments

- Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center (109 beds, Short Term Acute Care)
- Providence Newberg Medical Center (60 beds, Short Term Acute Care, Level IV Trauma Center)
- Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital (25 beds, Critical Access, Level III Trauma Center)
- Providence Seaside Hospital (25 beds, Critical Access Hospital)
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty within the last 3 years
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA required)
- ACLS (AHA required)
- PALS (AHA required)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ICU, ER, Tele, PCU RNs)
- EPIC experience required
- Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting (Charge RNs acceptable if direct supervisors)
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Required for all candidates
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Required for ICU, ER, L&D, MS/Tele, Tele, and PCU RNs
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Required for ER RNs and Pediatric ER
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): Required for L&D and NICU RNs
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): Required for L&D RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for ICU, ER, Tele, and PCU RNs
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
- Competency Exams: Required as applicable by specialty
- WorkRamp Modules: Required for all Per Diem candidates in Oregon, including Core and Specialty modules based on profession and specialty
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask testing (not required for Per Diem effective 5/20/24)
- Immunizations and screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 45 days of start, updated annually (Per Diem: within 25 days)
- Oregon Abuse/Neglect Search not required for Per Diem candidates
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
- Minimum 2 references from supervisors covering 1 year of employment in specialty
- Education verification required (international education requires diploma/transcript)
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- State license verification required (OR license for CNAs)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be willing to float to any selected Providence location in Oregon
- Badge photo required (passport style, neutral background, recent within 6 months)
- Providence badge and WorkRamp training modules must be completed prior to start
- EPIC training modules assigned at orientation and must be completed within one week
- Separation policy: 3 months between assignments at Providence facilities
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with required certifications and EPIC experience who are flexible to float across multiple Providence facilities in Oregon on a Per Diem basis.
