Job Opportunity: Wound Care Registered Nurse

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide wound care nursing services.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM).
• Floating to other facilities and units for wound care consults as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of wound care experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) certification
• Must hold one of the following wound care certifications:

  • Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN)
  • Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON)
  • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN)

Experience

• Minimum 2 years certified wound care nursing experience (based on certification requirement).

Certifications & Competencies

• Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required.
• Additional certifications may be required depending on position specifics (verify with recruiter).
• Medication and competency exams as applicable.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination series
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law).

Background & Compliance

• Must pass comprehensive background checks including FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and others as required.
• Education verification required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for clinical positions.

Facility & Orientation Requirements

• Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
• TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and renewed annually.
• Photo for badge required for per diem staff.

Additional Notes

• Floating to other units and facilities is part of the role.
• Religious exemptions for vaccines and facial hair accommodations are considered on a case-by-case basis with required documentation.
• Candidates with positive immunization contraindications may be eligible for medical or religious exemptions with proper documentation.
