Job Opportunity: Wound Care Registered Nurse
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide wound care nursing services.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM).
- Floating to other facilities and units for wound care consults as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of wound care experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) certification
- Must hold one of the following wound care certifications:
- Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN)
- Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON)
- Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years certified wound care nursing experience (based on certification requirement).
Certifications & Competencies
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required.
- Additional certifications may be required depending on position specifics (verify with recruiter).
- Medication and competency exams as applicable.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination series
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law).
Background & Compliance
- Must pass comprehensive background checks including FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and others as required.
- Education verification required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for clinical positions.
Facility & Orientation Requirements
- Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and renewed annually.
- Photo for badge required for per diem staff.
Additional Notes
- Floating to other units and facilities is part of the role.
- Religious exemptions for vaccines and facial hair accommodations are considered on a case-by-case basis with required documentation.
- Candidates with positive immunization contraindications may be eligible for medical or religious exemptions with proper documentation.
