Job Description
- Work in the Observation Unit providing care to patients requiring evaluation and treatment for 8 to 48 hours.
- Patient conditions may include chest pain, asthma, abdominal pain, kidney stones, minor infections.
- Care involves IV antibiotics, fluids, insulin drips, nitro for blood pressure, and lab monitoring (TP and lipids).
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 during days, 1:6 at nights (night ratio may occasionally be 1:7).
- Must be able to float within scope to other units as needed. Possible units include neuro, trauma, and others.
- Weekend shifts required: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period.
- Holiday work requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting.
- At least 1 year of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- Experience at a Level I academic medical center for first-time travel nurses.
- One completed travel nursing assignment.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Must be willing and able to float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Must be nicotine-free (100% nicotine-free facility).
- Candidate must live more than 100 miles from the facility (locals not accepted).
Certifications & Compliance
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
- Other certifications as applicable (PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification).
- Background check within 30 days of start, including federal and state-level screenings.
- Drug screening within 60 days of start and updated annually.
- Immunizations and health documents required: Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, annual flu vaccine documentation or declination, TB testing, physical exam, fit mask test.
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams required.
- State-specific registry checks and verifications required prior to start.

- Scrubs: RNs must wear facility-specific scrubs (details provided upon confirmation).
- Parking available with permit or daily rates.
- Up to two weeks of time off allowed with manager approval.
- RTO blackout dates apply (specific dates around College World Series).
- References: 2 work references from the past 2 years required.
