Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (CRT NICU)

Location: Metairie, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position requires a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and/or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
• 1st time travel therapists are accepted.
• Minimum 2 years of experience required in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty.
• EPIC electronic health record experience is required.
• Work schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend and holidays.
• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience preferred.
• Dress code: Blue scrubs.

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Louisiana State Respiratory Therapist License

Preferred Certifications:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Work Environment

• NICU preferred but not mandatory.
• 36 hours per week with every other weekend and holiday shifts.

Additional Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start.
• Immunizations and health documents required including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (recent within 3 months)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination
• Competency exams and annual updates required (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, core competencies).

Notes

• Candidates must comply with employee appearance policies.
• Physical exam is not required by the employer but may be required by the staffing agency.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification is not listed as required for this role.
