Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Contract Length: 10 weeks

• Specialty: Renal Medical Surgical
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• Unit Size: 49 rooms, average daily census of 48
• Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Schedule & Work Requirements

• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Call: None
• Holidays:

  • If 1 major holiday occurs during assignment, must work it
  • If 2 major holidays occur, must work both
  • If 3 major holidays occur, must work 2 of them
• Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as one), New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day (counted as one)
• Return to Orientation (RTO): Maximum 7 days

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications (May be required depending on specialty/unit)

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required for certain specialties; check unit description
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required if working in PACU, ER, or pediatric-accepting units
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – if applicable
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) – facility requires online course within months of hire if applicable

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including:

  • County and national criminal searches
  • Sex offender registry
  • Education verification (degree verification required; can be pending with proof)
• Drug screen: Negative 10-panel drug test within 60 days of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest x-ray if positive history
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend if eligible
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend if eligible
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
• References: 2 clinical references required by agency
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months
• Work history verification of most recent employer required (can be pending with proof)

• Locals accepted at same rate
• Orientation hours vary based on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
