Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - ICU
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (11:00 AM - 11:30 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Call Requirements: None
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Floating: Mandatory float within ICU units (Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU) and possibly to medical-surgical units as needed
• Orientation: First week on day shift with orientation and precepting

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in ICU, including ICU experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)

Work Schedule & Time Off

• Request Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days, no more than 2 consecutive days
• No RTO allowed on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID
• Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
• Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required

Additional Notes

• This is a mandatory float position requiring flexibility to work across multiple ICU units and possibly medical-surgical units.
• No block scheduling; shifts are fixed as described.
• Locals preferred due to floating and scheduling needs.
