Job Opportunity: Stepdown/PCU Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Job Details

Shift: 3x12 hour nights (1845-0715), with option to accommodate 4x12 hour shifts if preferred
Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
Patient Ratios/Daily Caseload: Not specified
Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
License: Must have an active Illinois RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown unit
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Experience with telemetry monitoring on the unit
Skilled in use of Rapid Response Teams
Experience caring for post cardiac angiogram patients
Competent in sheath removal and TR Band management
Feeding tube care and management expertise
Pre- and post-hemodialysis patient management
Skilled in accessing ports

Certifications Required

BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or equivalent
NIH Certification
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Preferred but not required

Acute care hospital setting
Level I trauma center
Magnet designated hospital
562 staffed beds
Scrub color: Any solid color
Charting system: Cerner

Additional Requirements

Must work every other weekend
Background checks and verifications required (including education, licensure, and criminal background)
Physical exam within one year of start date
Fit mask test required prior to start
Immunizations and health screenings required (e.g., TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, flu vaccine or exemption)
Drug screening within 30 days of start
Competency exam required for clinical candidates
Badge photo required before start
Parking permit required (no cost)

Notes

Prior travel experience is not accepted for first-time travelers; candidates must have completed at least one prior travel contract.
On-call shifts are not required.
Candidates should be prepared for possible schedule flexibility and floating within the unit scope.

This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown/PCU RNs seeking a travel contract in an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet hospital environment with a strong focus on cardiac, neurological, and critical care skills.
