Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Oncology Clinic
Location: Columbia, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Requires 1 year of outpatient nursing experience.
- Prior travel experience is required.
- Physical demands include ambulating, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs.
- Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses is routine.
- Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and take call.
- Must be able to work at the assigned location for the full contract term.
- Must work at least 50% of holidays during the contract.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of oncology nursing experience within the last year.
- Experience in an outpatient setting.
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Chemotherapy (CHEMO) certification.
Required Certifications & Compliance
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all RNs.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required for ER RNs starting 11/5/2024.
- Chemotherapy certification required for Oncology (new requirement starting 3/28/2025).
- Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, EFM may be required depending on specialty area.
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start; must be updated annually.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or approved exemption required.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella.
- Drug screening (7 panel) required within 60 days of start.
Background & Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 60 days of start.
- State-specific background checks and caregiver registry checks required.
- International background checks required if candidate has traveled outside the USA in the last 7 years.
- Verification of professional licensure through NURSYS within 60 days of start.
- Proof of identity (photo ID) and employment eligibility (I-9, E-Verify) required.
Additional Requirements
- Must provide 2 professional references from the last 2 years.
- Resume must document at least 7 years of employment history with no gaps over 30 days.
- Must complete all required competency exams and orientation safety acknowledgments.
- Photo for badge required for new candidates.
- Must be able to pass fit mask testing (annual requirement).
Physical & Work Environment
- Active role requiring physical stamina.
- Exposure to contagious diseases possible.
- Must be flexible to work in inclement weather and during holidays.
This position is ideal for experienced outpatient RNs with oncology experience who have prior travel contract experience and are ready to work in a dynamic, fast-paced clinical environment.
