Job Description

• Position requires Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential for RRT role.
• Shift: 1900-0700, with a 3- and 4-day per week rotation, alternating every other week.
• Experience required in Critical Care, Emergency Department (ED), and Pediatrics.
• No call requirement.
• Respiratory Therapy department provides a full range of inpatient therapeutic and diagnostic services, including patient education programs such as Living with COPD and Asthma Awareness.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Recent Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Experience working with Pediatric patients

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Valid Virginia or Compact State Respiratory Therapist license.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA or ARC accepted.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or ARC accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required for Pediatrics, ED, PACU.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – required for applicable units.
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check fingerprinting required.
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test including marijuana within 30 days of start; zero tolerance for THC.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
• Fit mask testing (N95 preferred) required annually; onsite testing available.
• Immunizations and health documents required: Tdap, TB test or chest X-ray, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
• Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); medical and religious exemptions allowed with proper documentation.

Additional Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., confidentiality agreement, standards of appearance, social media policy, compliance forms).
• Two professional references required.
• Current application/resume required.
• Skills checklist for specialty required and must be updated annually.
• Medication and competency exams as applicable.

Work Environment

• Acute care hospital setting with 255 staffed beds.
• Charting system: Meditech.
• Free parking available in unrestricted spaces.

Notes

• First-time travelers may be considered but preference given to those with prior travel experience.
• No on-call duties.
• Rotation includes critical care, emergency, and pediatric patient populations.
