Job Summary

  • Position is Remote Utilization Review (UR).
  • California RN license required for this remote UR position.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Minimum of 1 year of Utilization Review experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications (as applicable)

  • ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
  • BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
  • PALS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) if applicable
  • Chemotherapy certification if required by clinical track
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification if applicable
  • IV Certification (if applicable)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) if applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years) if applicable
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) if applicable
  • NURSYS verification for RN license

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • Education verification required for nursing degree.
  • Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (declination accepted)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates.
  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) may be required.

Competencies and Training

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
  • Competency exams required by specialty.
  • Color Blind Testing if required by unit.
  • EFM training or certification required for Labor & Delivery RNs.
  • WorkRamp LMS modules:
    • Annual regulatory and specialty-specific modules required.
    • Modules assigned based on region, specialty, and facility.
    • Completion required prior to start and annually thereafter.

Additional Requirements

  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors).
  • Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years.
  • Skills checklist updated annually if applicable.
  • Float policy acknowledgment may be required (ability to float to other Providence facilities).
