Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Assist the surgical team in preparing for surgical procedures in the operating room. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases, and maintaining supplies.

Required Qualifications

• CVOR Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• Certification as a CST, TS-C, or NCCT
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent level of education

Essential Functions

• Prepare surgical cases by checking and assembling required supplies and equipment.
• Set up operative instrumentation and sterile field for efficient use.
• Perform instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse according to standards.
• Maintain aseptic technique and label solutions per standards.
• Clean equipment and facilities as needed.
• Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities.
• Provide clerical support and perform housekeeping duties as requested.
• Collect data on assigned surgical cases based on unit performance standards.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Compliance and Requirements

• Current picture identification (Driver’s License or State ID) required.
• Background check covering the last 7 years required within 30 days of start.
• Drug testing required within 30 days before start.
• Physical exam required within 90 days of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 30 days of start and must be updated annually.
• Required vaccinations and immunizations include:

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer, vaccination, or declination)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer, vaccination, or declination)
  • Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination/exemption during flu season
• N95 fit test preferred; PAPR documentation if applicable.
• Annual completion of Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training may be required depending on unit.
• Competency exams (e.g., Medication Test/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG, Conscious Sedation) required as applicable.
• Two clinical references verified within one year of start.
• Complete employment application/resume with 7-year work history including locations and gaps.
• Unit-specific skills checklist required.

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
