Sterile Processing Supervisor

Overview

• Travel/contract assignment
• Temp-to-perm opportunity; preference given to candidates interested in permanent employment
• Based in Orangeburg, South Carolina
• Unit/department: Sterile Processing

Schedule

• Day shift, 5x8s
• Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• Holiday rotation
• No weekend requirement

Required Qualifications

• Sterile Processing Technician (3 years of experience)
• Sterile Processing Technician experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• CBSPD or CRCST
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Experience in Supervisor roles

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems
• Experience with Neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, Transplant, and GYN cases

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise Lead Technician, Tech I, II, III, and Non-Certified Technicians across decontamination, prep/pack, sterilization, case carts, and sterile storage
• Assign staff based on workload, case volume, and departmental priorities
• Oversee instrument tracking systems, documentation accuracy, and inventory control
• Coordinate daily sterile processing operations to support surgical and procedural case demands
• Monitor tray turnaround times, instrument availability, and case cart readiness
• Troubleshoot equipment, instrument, and workflow issues
• Maintain clean/dirty workflow separation and infection prevention practices
• Ensure compliance with AAMI ST79, AORN guidelines, CDC recommendations, and regulatory standards
• Audit tray assembly accuracy, count sheets, peel packs, and labeling requirements
• Address service concerns and support service recovery
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings related to instrumentation, workflow, and quality initiatives
• Perform sterile processing duties including organizing, storing, distributing, preparing, decontaminating, and sterilizing instruments, medical supplies, and equipment

Float Scope

• May float within scope to meet facility needs
• May float to sister facilities
• May be required to float to Charleston CSC in extenuating circumstances

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers are not accepted
• Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis within a 60-mile radius
• RTO must be submitted at time of application; no RTO approved after contract signing
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Epic charting
