Job Opportunity: RN Post Partum/OB/Labor & Delivery (Night Shift)

Job Description

Seeking a competent and experienced Registered Nurse for Labor & Delivery, Post Partum, and OB care. The RN will provide care for low-risk pregnant mothers, stabilize preterm and high-risk patients for transfer, and work independently in a Level 1 nursery caring for well-born neonates 35 weeks and older. The nurse will also stabilize sick newborns with interdisciplinary team support and prepare them for transfer to higher-level care.

Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), approximately 36 hours per week
Schedule: Weekends every other week, holidays off, on-call 1-2 shifts every 4 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Michigan
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Post Partum experience, including experience within the last year
• Labor and Delivery experience
• OB/GYN experience
• Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
• Relevant experience in emergent C-sections
• Nursery experience
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

Required Health and Compliance

• Proof of MMR vaccination or positive titer
• Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30), with approved medical/religious exemptions
• Negative TB test (T-spot or QuantiFERON preferred) within last 6 months or 2-step skin test
• Fit for duty health statement completed within 1 year of start
• Proof of Varicella vaccination or positive titer (history not accepted)
• Drug screen results within 90 days prior to start

Additional Onboarding Requirements

• Professional references (minimum 2, including manager/supervisor or charge nurse)
• Core competency exams including OSHA & Joint Commission
• Skills checklist and self-assessment
• Criminal background check (7-year national, sex offender, FACIS Level 3) within 90 days
• Employment, education, and license verifications
• Social Security card and state ID/driver’s license verification
• Completion of required forms and agreements as part of onboarding

Work Attire

• OR scrubs provided and laundered

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Candidates must be able to work independently and handle emergent situations in labor and delivery as well as neonatal care.
