Job Description

  • Emergency Department RN position
  • Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience required
  • Blocked schedules cannot be accommodated

Required Certifications & Credentials

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – American Heart Association only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – American Heart Association only
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • License/Certificate Verification: Valid permanent RN license required (temporary licenses not accepted)
  • UHS I-9 Attestation: Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • UHS Ohio Fingerprints: Ohio BCI&I check and FCRA-compliant national criminal background check (FBI fingerprint check if living in Ohio less than 5 years)
  • UHS Education Verification: Highest level of education verified; international education requires equivalency documentation
  • UHS Employment Verification: Verification of employment within last 5 years through third-party
  • UHS Competency Exam: Must score at least 80%, completed within 1 year prior to start
  • UHS Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission-NPSG, OSHA topics; 80% passing score required
  • UHS Criminal Background Check: Completed within 6 months prior to start, including SSN trace and national criminal sweep
  • UHS OIG Search: Completed within 6 months prior to start
  • UHS SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Checks: Completed within 6 months prior to start
  • UHS Drug Screen: 10-panel drug screen completed within 60 days prior to start (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • UHS Module Completion Certificate: Safety and compliance training modules must be completed prior to clearance
  • UHS Badge Photo: Professional headshot required (JPEG format)

Required Personal Health History & Vaccinations

  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Proof of vaccine series or approved medical/religious exemption preferred but not required
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titers within last 15 years required; booster protocol applies if low titer
  • Varicella: Positive titers within last 15 years required; booster protocol applies if low titer
  • Tdap: Proof of vaccination within past 10 years required; declinations not accepted
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct-Mar); medical or religious exemptions require signed forms
  • Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series with declination, or positive titers accepted
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Negative test within last 6 months required; if positive, clear chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required
  • Annual Negative PPD: If 2-step PPD not done within past year (optional)
  • Positive PPD: Negative chest x-ray within 5 years and current TB questionnaire (if applicable)
  • Fit Test: Completed within 1 year prior to start; specific mask types required
  • Physical/Health Statement: Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year stating ability to work without restrictions

  • Two professional references from the last 2 years
  • Completed job application (agency form)
  • Non-expired photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • UHS Submission Packet (includes resume, references, application)
