Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 48 hours guaranteed

Unit & Work Environment

• Work on an 8-bed observation unit (Short Stay Unit) with a patient ratio of 1:4
• Float to Intermediate Care (IMC) and Critical Transitional Unit (CTU) as needed
• Patient conditions include anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, pre/post-op urology and GI, and drips (Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin)
• Average patient stay up to 48 hours with a high volume of admissions and discharges
• Every other weekend and holiday required
• Low census hours may be scheduled in increments as short as 4 hours; these are not considered on-call hours

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in Intermediate Care or related units
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification highly preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips; will be required to pass an EKG exam during compliance

Additional Information

• Must be located more than 50 miles from the facility (radius rule)
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
• Flu season policy: Travelers declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy; non-compliance may result in corrective action
• Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation week or holidays when the unit is closed
