Job Opportunity: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Deliver high-quality care to Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry patient populations.
  • Positions available on Medical Surgical Unit and Telemetry Unit.
  • Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to work on the Telemetry/Med Surg unit.
  • Estimated work week: 36 hours with possible overtime.
  • ACLS certification required.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Iowa.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • BLS certification required (AHA or ARC acceptable).
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification from American Heart Association or Apex Innovations only.
  • Prior experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing (years of experience not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years typical for specialty).
  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience.

Required Credentials and Compliance

  • COVID-19 Vaccine (declination accepted).
  • MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; if low/equivocal, 1 booster or declination accepted.
  • Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; if low/equivocal, 1 booster or declination accepted.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; if low/equivocal, 1 booster or declination accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid for 10 years; declinations accepted.
  • Influenza Vaccine (seasonal, Sept 1 – March 31; vaccine or facility declination accepted).
  • TB Test: Negative test within past year or documentation if history of positive test.
  • Fit Test for approved masks completed prior to start.
  • Health Statement (physician statement within last 12 months).
  • Drug Screen: 10 panel within 30 days of start (THC not required).
  • Background Check including Adult and Child Abuse checks, EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG, NSO, OFAC, and others within 30 days of start.
  • Education Verification and License/Certificate Verification (primary source verification required).
  • Skills Checklist completed within 12 months.
  • GRH OSHA Questionnaire and other facility-specific attestations and documentation.
  • Professional references: 2 required, including 1 supervisor reference.
  • Unexpired government-issued photo ID.

Additional Information

  • Night shift position.
  • Telemetry test must be passed during first week to continue on Telemetry unit.
  • Self-study of telemetry strips required upon acceptance.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with Medical/Surgical and Telemetry skills who hold current certifications and are comfortable working night shifts in an acute care setting.
