Registered Nurse (Emergency Room) - West Burlington, Iowa
Job Type
- Long-Term Assignment (approximately 8 weeks)
Job Description
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department.
- Responsible for rapid, safe, and accurate triage of every patient entering the emergency care system.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Support unit preparation for Epic EMR go-live; Cerner and Epic EMR experience required.
- Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to continue working in the Emergency Department.
- May be placed on call occasionally during low census periods; if called in, must respond and arrive onsite within one hour.
- Assignment start date: May 18, 2026; end date: July 12, 2026. Extension possible based on unit needs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Iowa.
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Current certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course).
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
- CPI or MOAB certification.
- Experience with Cerner and Epic EMR systems.
- Ability to interpret telemetry strips; must pass a basic dysrhythmia test during the first week.
- Background check, drug screen, and various professional verifications required within 30 days of start.
- Health requirements include:
- COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted).
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted).
- Hepatitis B (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted).
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted).
- Tdap (valid within 10 years; declination accepted).
- TB test (negative test within past year or appropriate documentation if history of positive).
- Fit test for approved respirators completed prior to start.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (Sept 1 – March 31), with facility declination accepted.
- Must complete various attestations and verifications including education, references (2 professional, 1 supervisor), and employment eligibility.
- Driver’s license or state ID must be current and valid throughout assignment.
