Registered Nurse (ER) - New Jersey (Alloway)

Employment Type: Per Diem
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Night Shift)
  • Shift: Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Shift Length: 12.5 hours
  • Location: Multiple hospital campuses within the system (float pool)
  • Must be willing to float between facilities within the system

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of trauma nursing experience (3 years preferred), not during travel or per diem contracts
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: Pediatrics, Triage, STEMI, Stroke
  • Active New Jersey RN license
  • Current certifications required at time of assignment:
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) through ENA (Emergency Nurses Association)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • 2 professional references required, including 1 leadership reference
  • Cerner charting system experience preferred
  • Call availability required

Orientation

  • 1 day HR orientation
  • 1 preceptor shift

Certifications & Compliance

  • Must maintain all required certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC)
  • 8 Stroke CEUs required annually for ER nurses, including 2-3 contact hours from NIH certificate (AHA or BlueCloud accepted)
  • NURSYS license verification required
  • Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 MMR vaccinations)
    • Hepatitis B titers or declination form
    • Varicella titer or vaccinations
    • Drug screening (10-panel) within 30 days of start
    • Hepatitis C antibody if working in dialysis-related care
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required or approved medical/religious exemption

Additional Requirements

  • 1-year separation period from previous employment at the facility
  • Must complete facility-specific documents including job description review, contract worker process validation, conflict of interest policy, confidentiality statement, code of conduct, and policy acknowledgements
  • Must have an agency badge
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology exam required

Notes

  • Candidates must be motivated to complete compliance requirements promptly
  • Facility enforces strict compliance and may cancel assignments for non-compliance
