Job Details

• Shift: Nights, every other week (EOW)
• Schedule Option: 4x12 hour shifts available

• Float and Possible Charge Nurse duties as needed
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Skills Required:

  • IV starts
  • Isolation Precautions
  • Wound Care / Wound Vac
  • Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Preferred (not explicitly required)
• Licensure: Alabama RN license required
• Certifications:

  • Current BLS (AHA or ARC) required
  • NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Other Requirements:

  • 30-minute lunch break mandatory, no skipped meals
  • Schedule is fixed once contract is confirmed; requested time off must be included at confirmation
  • No accommodation for other per diem schedules or contracts
  • Local candidates within 60-mile radius considered

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background Checks:

  • Within 6 months of start date
  • Social Security Trace, State and Nationwide Criminal, National Sex Offender checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (all aliases)
• Education Verification: Official transcript, diploma, or third-party verification required
• Licensure Verification: Primary source verification and NURSYS verification prior to start
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 12 months
  • Fit mask test within 12 months
  • Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (TB questionnaire if test expires during assignment)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination, history, or positive titer
  • 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or declination (year-round requirement)
• Competency Exams: Required as applicable to specialty
• Facility Policies: Must review and sign traveler attendance policy prior to start

Summary

This is a travel/contract position for a Medical Surgical RN working nights on an every-other-week schedule with an option for 4x12 shifts. The role involves float and possible charge nurse responsibilities. Candidates must have an Alabama RN license, current BLS certification, and preferred NIH Stroke certification. Level II trauma experience and prior travel experience are preferred but not mandatory. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks. Strict adherence to scheduling and documentation requirements is mandatory.
