Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tyler, Texas

Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour nights
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Unit Focus:
    • Medical-surgical unit with telemetry capabilities
    • Patients with renal and urological diagnoses (post prostate surgery, renal stones, bladder and kidney surgeries)
    • Skilled in 3-way catheter irrigations, bladder scans, and incontinence procedures
    • Patient age range: young adults through geriatrics
    • May include medical-surgical and telemetry overflow admissions
  • Float: Required to units of equal or lesser acuity

Experience & Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required
  • Charting System: Epic (experience required)
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
    • ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, CPI, MAB as applicable
  • Licensure: State License verification and NURSYS verification required
  • Skills: Unit-specific skills checklist required annually

Compliance & Documentation

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
    • Education verification required (transcript/diploma accepted as placeholder if needed)
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 12 months of start
    • Fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
    • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
      • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
      • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
      • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
      • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (required during flu season)
      • COVID-19 vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
    • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency, color blind testing, and other core competency exams as applicable
  • Photo: Clear headshot required for badge

Additional Notes

  • Must not reside in certain Texas counties (Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, Morris)
  • Fingerprinting required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
  • Complete application/resume and work history verification required (7 years)
  • References are not required to clear candidates but recommended

This position is ideal for experienced travel nurses with prior travel assignments who are comfortable working night shifts in a telemetry medical-surgical environment with renal/urological patient care.
