Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PICU/NICU Float)
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: RN - PICU/NICU Float
- Float between NICU and acute pediatric patients within the hospital
- Trauma Level 1 experience required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of specialty experience in NICU and PICU
- First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 5+ years of experience
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Work Schedule
- 3 weekend shifts required per month
- No on-call required
- Not open to block scheduling
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Essentials acceptable for labor and delivery/postpartum; Advanced required for other units
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses) - Required for ER, PICU, PCCU; PICU also requires ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (preferred)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN Intermediate (if applicable)
- State RN License - Current, unencumbered, with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- NURSYS Verification - Current and unencumbered within 30 days prior to start
Required Skills
- Experience in NICU and PICU settings
- Trauma Level 1 experience
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID
- Background checks within 1 year, including SS Trace, 7-year County, National Criminal, and FACIS III
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification (diploma or official transcripts) required before start
- Fingerprinting (if applicable) with results on file within 90 days after start
- Physical exam within 1 year and must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- Fit mask test completed onsite during orientation (returning candidates must update if expired)
- Immunizations and health screenings (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract):
- TDAP (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test (Qgold or Tspot within 1 year) or chest X-ray if prior positive
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella - positive titer or proof of vaccination required
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination within last year
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Drug testing with negative results within 12 months (specific panels required)
- Candidate must complete facility-specific orientation acknowledgment and confidentiality forms
- References and employment application covering last 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Current and accurate skills checklist within 1 year
Additional Notes
- Local candidates are accepted
- No on-call shifts required
- Floating between NICU and acute pediatric units is mandatory
- Candidates must be able to work 3 weekend shifts per month
