Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Brownwood, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Preferred start date: January
• Shift: Day shift, approximately 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (end time may vary by about an hour)
• On-call required
• Must live more than 150 miles from the facility or reside in a metropolitan area
• Experience with MedHost and GE MacLab preferred
• Prior travel experience strongly preferred

Licensure & Certifications Required

• Texas RN License or Compact License
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA accepted
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA accepted
• NIH Stroke Certification (annual updates required)
• Additional certifications may be required as applicable:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Experience Requirements

Compliance & Background Checks

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
• Fit mask test (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or Quantiferon Gold/T-Spot) within 1 year of start
• TB questionnaire annually
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series, positive titer, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Seasonal flu vaccination or exemption for 2025-26 season
• Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start (no exceptions)

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, confidentiality, compliance, background check authorization)
• Pass/fail testing required for telemetry nurses (EKG/medication) with up to 2 attempts
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Color blindness test (online Ishihara version) required
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Two professional references within 3 years required
• Resume or employment application required
