Patient Population & Care Modalities
Acute inpatient progressive care
Diagnoses include:
- Acute Coronary Syndrome
- Bipap/CPAP with compromised gas exchange
- Cardiac diagnoses requiring close monitoring
- Post PTCA/stent care
- Drug toxicity requiring advanced monitoring
- ETOH withdrawal with airway compromise risk
- Thrombolytic therapy for ACS or vascular patency
- Major vascular surgery with comorbidities
- Hypotension/hemodynamic instability
- Insulin drip therapy
- Heart Failure
- Carotid surgery
- Electrical cardioversion
- Active rewarming for temperature regulation
Special Equipment: Respiratory support available 24/7; anesthesia not available 24/7; only home ventilators managed on unit
Unit Specific Procedures: Insulin drips, cardiac drips, starting IVs, post cardiac cath care
Required Qualifications
- Discipline: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Specialty: Progressive Care/Intermediate Care
- Minimum Years of Clinical Experience: 1 year
- Minimum Years of Specialty Experience: 1 year (telemetry experience required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Licensure: Valid New York RN license or proof of application with applied date required at submission
- Certifications:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required prior to start
- Epic experience within the past 2 years is mandatory and non-negotiable

- Background Check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years

- NURSYS verification within 30 days and updated annually
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as required
- Color Blind Testing required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required annually for NY facilities)
- N95 Fit Mask test required prior to start and annually
- Immunizations:
- Tdap within 10 years or titer
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination (required for NY facilities)
- Drug testing within 12 months of start (required for NY facilities)
- References: 2 professional references from assignments within last 3 years
- Employment application and skills checklist within 12 months required
- Work history verification for last 2 years of clinical work

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of telemetry experience, current NY RN licensure, and recent EPIC experience, who is comfortable working in a progressive care setting with floating responsibilities and flexible scheduling.
