Registered Nurse (Psychiatric/Behavioral Health) - Travel/Contract

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Strong adolescent and child psychiatric experience preferred.
• If no adolescent and child experience, must have 2 years of psychiatric/behavioral health experience and prior travel experience.
• Requires 1.5 to 2 years of recent Psychiatric/Behavioral Health experience (use 2 years as requirement).
• Every Other Week (EOW) schedule required.
• Must be open to working with children, adolescents, and adult units.
• May be expected to step in as charge nurse as needed (may include rate increase for that shift).
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training will be provided.
• EMR system used: EPIC (required).
• Shift supervisor, CNO, nurse manager onsite and available, with someone on call.

Requirements

• RN license in hand at time of submission (Maryland license or compact state license with proof of residency).
• Prior travel experience required if lacking adolescent and child experience.
• Must be willing to work across multiple age groups (children, adolescent, adults).

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all positions.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for some units (check specifics).
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) required for LDRP units.
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required for ER/ED, preferred for ICU.
• NIH Stroke Certification required for all units except Pediatrics, OB, and L&D (must obtain AHA or APEX certification within first week if not already held).
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
• Competency exams as applicable, including specialty-specific testing.

Health & Background Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start date.
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start date.
• Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or True 2-Step PPD) within 1 year of start date.
• Required immunizations or positive titers for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination, positive titer, or declination).
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start date.
• Flu vaccine required (no declinations or exemptions accepted).

Background Checks & Documentation

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start date, including SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender, and FACIS level 3.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required annually.
• Proof of I9 or attestation.
• Copy of Driver’s License/State ID matching state of compact license if applicable.
• Residency declaration form if working on a compact license.
• NURSYS verification as applicable.
• References: Proof of 2 clinical references required.
• Performance evaluation required if worked with the client for over 1 year.
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units.

Additional Notes

• Candidates may be interviewed within 48 hours.
• Most shifts have supervisory support onsite or on call.
• Flexibility to work across multiple patient age groups is essential.
