Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- 1st time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Patient Population
- Adolescents to Geriatrics
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
Work Setting & Skills
- Mixed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry and Intermediate patients
- Small neuro patient population
- Respiratory, cardiac, mixed medical cases
- Titrating cardiac drips required
- Telemetry required
- Assignments may be all PCU, all MS/Tele, or a mix depending on patient acuity and staffing
- Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients (high staffing ratio)
- Unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- No block scheduling
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility
- Call: None
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
- Return to Orientation (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time
- Non-compliance results in 2-week push back due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 16 weeks = 16 hours)
Required Documentation & Health Requirements
- Background check (including education verification) required before start
- State nursing license verification (Georgia) within 30 days prior to start
- Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (no pending results allowed)
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Color blind testing required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac step-down, ICU, PCU
- General competency exam required
Additional Notes
- Floating within the facility is required
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
- References: 2 clinical references required by agency (not client)
- Skills checklist and work history verification required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
