Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Eye Institute)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Days, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each, Monday to Friday, variable day off
Start Date: April 20
Job Description
- Position in the Eye Institute Operating Room at a Level 1 Trauma Center (25 beds)
- Circulating nurse role with required skills in eye surgery and trauma care
- Hospital has a strong focus on Orthopedics, Spine, and Neurosurgery; no cardiac or transplant cases on this unit
- Medication system used: Pyxis
- Scrub color and charting system (Epic) provided by facility
- No weekend shifts required
- No on-call duties
- No floating outside scope of practice
- Travelers must be flexible with block scheduling
- Locals accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients in an Acute Care setting
- Trauma experience
- Circulating skills
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
Additional Requirements
Background Checks
- 7-year criminal background check required within 45 days of start
- Must include nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 1, WATCH (WA Access to Criminal History), OIG, SAM, and other relevant checks
- International background checks required if candidate has lived outside the US in the last 3 years
Competency Exams & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% in dosage calculations
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain units (check with recruiter if applicable)
- Color blindness testing required
- Orientation testing is pass/fail with 80% passing score
Health & Immunizations
- Physical exam within 1 year (not required by facility but required by agency)
- Mask fit test within 12 months (3M masks preferred)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination on file
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days; annual TB questionnaire required
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccinations required
- Hepatitis B positive titer or vaccination series with re-titer required
- Varicella titer or vaccination required
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Sept 29 - March 31)
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of experience, preferably with Eye OR and trauma experience, looking for a travel contract in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment.
