ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Mission Hills, California Setting: Acute care hospital, Magnet facility, 377 staffed beds Contract length: 13 weeks Start date: ASAP

Schedule

• Shift: Evening, 15:00-03:00 (12 hours per day, 36 hours per week)
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Block schedule: Open to accommodating, per manager discretion
• Call-offs: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
• Return-to-work (RTO): RTO must be included at time of submission

Unit and Patient Profile

• Patient mix: Level 2 Trauma, Pediatrics, AMIs, Strokes, MVA, gunshot wounds, Sepsis, CHF
• Pediatric volume: About 30%
• Population: Serves a lower-income Hispanic population

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with ED experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
• Fire card (must be completed before start; the client may allow up to 30 days post-start if all options have been exhausted)
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification

Onboarding Requirements

• Background: Background check within 90 days of start, updated annually; education verification; EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly; Washington State Patrol/WATCH search if applicable
• Drug screen: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
• Health: Physical exam within 1 year of start; TB test or chest X-ray; TDAP within 10 years (declination acceptable); MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), varicella, and hepatitis B documentation or declinations; flu vaccine or declination during flu season; COVID vaccination record or declination
• Respirator clearance: Annual RespSafety clearance; fit mask testing (travel only)
• Employment history: Application covering at least the last 5 years; 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty
• Training: Annual regulatory modules (about 3.5 hours); facility EMR training; float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to another facility within a reasonable distance)
• Other: Government-issued photo ID, Social Security card, E-Verify attestation
