PACU Registered Nurse (RN) - Redmond, WA

Job Overview

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Location: Redmond, Washington
• Facility Type: Outpatient Surgery / Ambulatory PACU
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, no weekends, no call, no holidays
• Shift Hours: Vary between 6:15 AM to 6:30 PM; either 8 or 10-hour shifts (typical day shift example: 7:00 AM - 1:30 PM)
• Contract Length: 10 weeks

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Ambulatory/Outpatient settings, specifically Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, and Pre/Post operative care
• Must have EPIC charting experience (required)
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills: starting and maintaining IVs
• Knowledge of emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
• Familiarity with types of anesthesia: conscious sedation, general, local, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), nerve blocks, spinal anesthesia
• Pre/Post operative patient care including discharge instructions, follow-up phone calls, medication reconciliation, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, operative/procedural consent, pre-op assessment and education, and pre-op medications
• Ability to interpret and communicate lab values, apply isolation precautions/PPE, follow malignant hyperthermia protocol, and perform pain assessment and management
• Experience with surgery cases including endoscopy/laparoscopic, general surgery, gynecology, and orthopedics

Additional Details

• First-time travel nurses are NOT accepted; prior travel experience is required
• No floating between units required
• Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are accepted
• Reliable transportation is required for all candidates
• Facility may call off traveler up to 1 shift per pay period (every 2 weeks)
• Scrub color provided: Sky Blue
• Patient diagnoses focus on pre-op and PACU Phase 1 and 2 care; no circulating in the OR required
• Special procedures include endoscopy, ortho, ENT (some plastics), neuro ENT, podiatry, and general surgery
• Special equipment varies by specialty

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state
• Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience in outpatient and ambulatory care settings
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system

This position is ideal for experienced PACU RNs with prior travel assignments who are comfortable working in an ambulatory surgery center environment and have strong IV and perioperative nursing skills.
