Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Minimum 5 years of current Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience in an acute care setting required.
  • Must have experience with Meditech EMR.
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP.
  • Intermediate AWHONN Fetal Monitoring skills required.
  • Must hold a valid Kentucky nursing license or a compact nursing license.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Experience with MEDITECH Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Experience in an acute care setting.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Completion and acknowledgement of Orientation Safety Manual.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Unexpired government-issued photo ID.
  • Background checks including national and county-level searches, sex offender registry, and others.
  • Education verification.
  • Annual physical exam or physician statement confirming ability to work without restrictions.
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start.
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer proof
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer proof
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and core competencies.
  • References: Two professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor).
  • Work history verification covering 7 years.
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety manuals.
  • Annual renewal of required certifications and competencies.

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • PAPRs (Powered Air Purifying Respirators) are not accommodated; fit mask testing completed onsite.
  • Religious or medical exemptions for mask fit and flu vaccine can be reviewed onsite.
  • Must complete all required attestations and documentation prior to start.
