Job Opportunity: Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)

Location: Burlingame, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Responsible for decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, case cart picking and storage, and distribution of sterile instrumentation.

Shift Details

• 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (0800-1630)
• Weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirement

Required Qualifications

• HSPCA/CRCST certification
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and other federal/state screenings required and must be updated annually as applicable
• Education verification required (not if highest education is high school)
• Official transcripts/diplomas may be required if verification attempts are unsuccessful
• TB Screening Questionnaire required within 90 days of start and must be renewed annually
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
• Drug screening (9 panel) within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law)
• Immunizations required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination during flu season
• Fit mask test required within 1 year of start and annually thereafter

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC only
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP), and other certifications as applicable to position (verify with recruiter)

Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
• Unit-specific skills checklist and competency exams may be required

Documentation

• Passport-style photo for badge
• Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps
• Employment verification for up to 7 years required
• Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be reviewed and signed prior to start

Additional Notes

• Weekend rotation is required, but no on-call duties
• Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement
• All background checks and health documents must be current and compliant before start date
