Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Shift length: 8 hours
• Shift start times vary: 7:00 AM, 8:30/9:30 AM, or 3:30 PM
• Schedule released in 4-week intervals with advanced notice
• Call requirement: 1x per month
• Acute care experience preferred
• Must demonstrate effective English communication skills and basic computer proficiency
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and respond appropriately to complex situations

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 3 years of experience
• Recent Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Certification as CST, NBSTSA, TS-C, or NCCT

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
• Various federal and state screenings including EPLS, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, and others as applicable
• Education verification required (highest level achieved)
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test required within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B immunity or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
• Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start, renewed annually
• Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be reviewed and signed prior to start

Additional Requirements

• Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days
• Two professional references required (within 3 years)
• Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
• Competency exams and certifications may be required depending on position specifics (e.g., medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG competency)
