Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

Seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience. Candidates must have strong expertise in pediatric critical care, NICU, and emergency department settings.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in NICU, pediatric critical care, pediatrics, and emergency department (ED) settings.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Level IV NICU experience (hard stop requirement)
  • Experience with high frequency jet ventilator and oscillating ventilator
  • Experience with pediatric cardiac anomalies

Licensure

  • Current North Carolina Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in hand

Patient Age Group

  • Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults

Schedule Requirements

  • Weekend shifts required: 6 weekend shifts per schedule
  • Schedule published in 6-week blocks
  • On-call not required

Orientation

  • Bi-weekly orientation sessions

Additional Requirements

  • Flu vaccination is mandatory; no exemptions or declinations accepted

Important Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including SSN trace, county checks for past 7 years, sex offender, and international searches if applicable
  • Education verification from accredited respiratory care program
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Two professional references from employment within last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
  • Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
  • Experience working with pediatric patients
  • Level IV NICU experience (hard stop requirement)
  • Experience with high frequency jet ventilator
  • Experience with oscillating ventilator

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
