Job Opportunity: Outpatient Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)

Location: Decatur, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Monday to Friday, 5x8 hour shifts (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM), open to 4x10 hour shifts
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of experience as a PTA
• First-time Travel Therapists: Not accepted
• Weekend Requirement: None
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
• Schedule: Blocked Monday-Friday schedule
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
• Pending License: Not accepted; active Illinois PTA license required
• Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
• Guaranteed Hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapy Assistant experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience in outpatient and clinic settings
• Experience with extremity mobilization, myofascial release, and taping
• Proficient with assistive devices
• Billing experience including Medicaid, Medicare A, Medicare B, and Private Pay

• Beds: 372 staffed beds
• Dress Code: Gray scrubs or professional attire
• Charting System: Cerner
• Parking: Permit required, no cost

Required Pre-Employment and Ongoing Compliance

• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Primary source verification of licenses and certifications
• Competency exam required for all clinical candidates
• Physical exam within one year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
• Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
• References: 2 professional references required
• Badge photo required prior to start
• Various state-specific criminal and abuse registry checks required within 30 days of start

Additional Notes

• No prior travel experience required, but first-time travel therapists are not accepted for this role.
• Active Illinois PTA license is mandatory; pending licenses are not accepted.
• The position requires strong outpatient clinic experience with neurological and orthopedic patient populations.
• The schedule is a blocked Monday-Friday shift with no weekend or on-call requirements.
