Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description
- Work in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) with 3 scheduled 12-hour shifts plus 1 call shift per week.
- Shift start times vary between 07:30 and 10:30; Pre-op shifts may start as early as 06:00.
- When on call, must be able to report to PACU within 30 minutes.
- Care for adult and pediatric patients post-anesthesia from various major surgeries including general, vascular, neuro, orthopedic, and trauma surgeries.
- Monitor vital signs, level of consciousness, and pain management.
- Administer and titrate medications including pain management and anesthesia reversal agents.
- Recognize and respond to airway complications.
- Start and manage IV lines, administer fluids and medications.
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and accurate documentation of patient progress and interventions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with both adult and pediatric patients
- Pre-Op experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications issued by the American Heart Association
- Knowledge of NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID.
- Background checks covering the last 7 years, including Social Security address check (last 15 years), national criminal search, sex offender search, education verification, and others as required.
- Primary source verification of California RN license within 30 days of start.
- Annual physical exam clearing employee to work without restrictions.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; annual renewal required for travel and per diem.
- Immunization and health requirements including:
- Tdap vaccine or declination within 10 years.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility protocol.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C immunity or declination documentation.
- Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination annually.
- Fit mask testing for specified N95 masks or approved alternatives.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, training modules, and competency exams annually.
- Required facility-specific acknowledgments and policy reviews prior to start.
- References: Two professional references including one from most recent experience.
- Complete 15 years of work history on application, including locations and any gaps.
Additional Information
- Dress code: Solid colored scrubs only (no camouflage, jean texture, or character patterns).
- Badge photo required on a plain blue background, passport-style.
- Must complete facility-specific forms and training within specified timeframes after signing.
- Call shift requires ability to respond within 30 minutes.
- No prior travel experience explicitly required.

Cath lab is super traveler friendly, easygoing docs, nice coworkers, super easy to get to the facility from surrounding areas, great about scheduling what you needed off, LOTS of outdoor activities to do within an hour of here! Safe gated parking area (called the Cage), hospital is clean and welcoming, staff usually pretty great in all areas I went.
Cons
DO NOT STAY IN POMONA, stay in surrounding areas (San Dimas, La Verne, Covina, Glendora, Diamond Bar, Chino Hills, Claremont are all good).
