Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: San Diego, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Start Date: April 13 only
  • Work in multiple float pool locations; must be willing to work across 3 different sites during the contract.
  • May float to Emergency Department Inpatient Overflow (EDIP) in the ER.
  • Patient populations include Cardiac, Neuro, General, Stroke, Medical, Surgical, Kidney, Liver solid organ transplant, and Trauma.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pulmonary Artery Lines experience
  • Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree

Schedule

  • 4-week schedule provided two weeks in advance
  • No blocked or self-scheduling
  • Shift location communicated 2 hours prior to shift start

Required Compliance and Documentation

  • Background checks including criminal, sexual offender, national databases, and DMV (if driving) within 6 months of start
  • Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or titer with declination)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (vaccines and/or titer or signed declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine strongly preferred during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
    • COVID-19 vaccine current as of March 13, 2025 (Bivalent acceptable) or signed declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) passed and updated annually
  • Medication and competency exams with passing scores (80% or higher)
  • References: Two leadership references within the past 2 years in the specialty, preferably including a manager or supervisor

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
  • Candidates must be comfortable with floating to multiple units and locations.
  • Orientation and training modules will be provided prior to start.
  • Compliance with all health and safety protocols is mandatory.
