Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Salina, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Weekends: Every other weekend required
• Unit: 38-bed unit with nephrology, oncology, and general medical patients; dialysis unit included
• Floating: May float to other Med-Surg units, Emergency Department, or ICU to care for floor patients as needed
• EMR: MEDITECH experience required (no exceptions)
• Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required (no exceptions); first-time travelers not accepted
• Scheduling: Blocked scheduling in place
• Mileage: 100-mile radius rule applies; mileage reviewed case-by-case

Required Skills & Clinical Competencies

• Telemetry monitoring (unit and remote)
• Gastrointestinal and Genitourinary/Renal care
• IV therapy and phlebotomy (starting IVs)
• Medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, PCA
• Neurological care (stroke, substance withdrawal)
• Surgical drain management (plastics)
• Respiratory care including chest tubes, Emerson/Pleur-evac, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oral suctioning, tracheostomy management
• Isolation precautions
• Wound care and wound vac management

Unit Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid Kansas RN license or Compact RN license at time of submission
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for Med Surg/Telemetry and related units
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (no exceptions)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Proof of identity and eligibility to work (I9, government-issued photo ID)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level III
• Education verification (highest degree)
• State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification for RNs
• Health documents including:

  • Physical exam within 60 days of start
  • N95 fit test within 12 months (can be completed onsite)
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Drug screening (10-panel, SAMHSA certified within 60 days)
  • Flu vaccination or declination during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted
• Completion of facility-specific Healthstream modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours)
• Photo for badge required
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
• Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable

• Prior employees of this facility will not be considered
• Floating assignments limited to Med-Surg, ED, or ICU floor patients only
• Blocked scheduling and weekend requirements must be adhered to

This position is ideal for experienced Med-Surg Telemetry RNs with prior travel contract experience who are proficient in Meditech EMR and comfortable working night shifts with a variety of complex patient care needs.
