Job Opportunity: MRI Tech
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Days, Thursday - Saturday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, Saturday only
- Floating: No floating between service lines or other facilities
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience within the last year
- ARRT (MR) certification required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital setting
- Approximately 200 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- Parking: Free
- Scrub colors: Black, Teal, or Grey
Important Notes
- During hurricane season (June through November), employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Travelers should consider this before accepting assignments during this period.
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; guaranteed hours are not absolute.
- Local candidates are accepted.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of work eligibility in the US (I-9 form)
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
- Copy of Social Security Card or SSN verification
- Background check within 90 days of start, including multiple searches (SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, etc.)
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- Primary source verification of active, unencumbered South Carolina MRI technologist license (ARRT MR certification required)
- Clinical references (minimum two, including at least one from the unit to be worked)
- Employment history verification for last 3 clinical employers
- Photo for badge (passport-style, solid light background, frontal view)
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, confirming ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or appropriate follow-up
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
Certifications
- ARRT (MR) certification required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (AHA or American Red Cross accepted)
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke, and other certifications are not required for this MRI Tech position but may be relevant for other roles
Additional Information
- No on-call required
- No floating to sister facilities
- Local radius considered up to 60 miles
- Travelers must complete all required facility-specific forms and agreements prior to start
- Modules and orientation must be completed on a computer or laptop, not on a cell phone
- Facility uses Epic for charting and requires compliance with all health and safety protocols
This position is suitable for MRI Technologists with at least 1 year of MRI experience, who hold ARRT (MR) and BLS certifications, and have experience with Siemens Espree MRI equipment. First-time travel healthcare workers are welcome to apply.
