Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER (Night Shift)

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
• Start Dates: July 8 or July 15
• Shift Flexibility: Start time may vary by up to 4 hours earlier or later only in rare urgent staffing situations
• Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
• Special Skills: Must be able to read telemetry

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience
• Minimum 1.5 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with ED experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Ability to read telemetry

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and federal exclusions
  • Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start
• Education Verification: Third-party verification of highest completed education or transcript with graduation date (diplomas not accepted)
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Required immunizations or valid declinations (MMR, Hepatitis B, TDAP, Varicella, Flu, COVID-19) with declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU
  • Drug test within 30 days of start covering a comprehensive panel
• Additional Facility-Specific Documents:

  • TB questionnaire for all candidates
  • Various vaccine declination forms if applicable
• References: Two references within three years of start
• Employment History: Application must include 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Competency Exams: Medication and EKG/dysrhythmia competency exams required as applicable

Important Notes

• Failure to pass the medication or telemetry exam on the first attempt at orientation will result in immediate contract cancellation.
• Telemetry exam is not required for OR, Psychiatry, Mother-Baby/Postpartum, and NICU units.
• Annual updates for background checks and competency exams may be required for direct hires.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification or equivalent training may be required on site.
• Candidates declining updated COVID-19 vaccine must complete a declination form by January 25, 2024.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with telemetry monitoring and emergency care, who meet strict compliance and certification requirements.
