Cath Lab Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Brownwood, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, approximately 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (10-hour shifts, 4 days per week)
• On-Call: Required
• Start Date: Preferred within the next 3-5 weeks
• Experience with: MedHost and GE MacLab systems
• Travel Experience: Strongly preferred
• Distance Requirement: Must live more than 150 miles from the facility or reside in a metropolitan area

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with MEDHOST system

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• 7-year background check (including SSN trace, counties, national, OFAC, sex offender) within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma
• Texas-specific employability and employee misconduct registry checks within 30 days of start

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
• Fit mask test (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually
• Immunizations and titers:

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or QGold/Tspot within 1 year; chest X-ray for positive responders within 5 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if non-immune
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, full series, or declination accepted
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if non-immune
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption for 2025-26 season

Competency & Testing

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Color blindness test (online Ishihara version accepted)
• Pass/fail testing for Telemetry RNs (EKG/medication knowledge) with up to 2 attempts
• Annual skills checklist update required

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Completion and signing of multiple facility-specific acknowledgments and agreements prior to start, including:

  • Vaccination information
  • TB and occupational exposure acknowledgment
  • Patient-centered pledge
  • Contract employee receipt and confidentiality statements
  • Corporate compliance and computer security agreements
  • Employee misconduct registry acknowledgment
  • Traveler identification form
• Orientation modules (~3-4 hours) required during onboarding
• Parking available at no cost for orientation and employment

Additional Notes

• Candidate must confirm awareness of strict drug screening policy, including zero tolerance for marijuana/THC products, even if CBD was used previously
• Facility conducts its own drug screen upon arrival; positive results lead to automatic cancellation
• References: 2 required within 3 years of start
• Resume or employment application copy required
