Job Opportunity: Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology Nurse

Location: Richmond, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a fast-paced outpatient infusion clinic specializing in hematology/oncology.
  • Experience with outpatient infusion clinic required; inpatient oncology experience accepted as part of total experience. No other outpatient clinic experience accepted.
  • Patient population includes autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant patients and CAR-T therapy patients.
  • Rotation through multiple areas: infusion/day hospital, lab/port draw, clinic, and bone marrow biopsy suite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage chemotherapy/biotherapy, including investigational protocols.
  • Transfuse blood products (blood, platelets, fresh frozen plasma).
  • Perform port draws, phlebotomy, central line access, and central line care.
  • Assist in procedural area with bone marrow biopsy/aspiration, including minimal analgesia and recovery.
  • Manage toxicities related to chemotherapy/biotherapy.
  • Monitor and manage patients with neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, and electrolyte abnormalities, including repletion.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
  • Minimum of 1 year of hematology/oncology experience within the last year
  • Experience in an outpatient setting, including infusion and clinic experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Shift Details

  • Day shift: 4 days per week, 9.5 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Fingerprinting and CPS (Central Registry) background checks required for certain pediatric and behavioral health units; may start with results pending if proof of submission is on file.
  • No onsite certification renewals; renewals must be scheduled externally.
  • Candidates must complete assigned learning modules during orientation week.
  • Candidates should be prepared to bring a mask (cloth acceptable), non-wireless headphones, and a laptop or cell phone to orientation.

Endoscopy unit is a well run, well oiled machine. Staff is very professional and management on point! It was my favorite travel job so far!

The fact that you need to walk through metal detectors, but it’s for everyone’s safety!
