Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Shreveport, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Evening shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
  • Weekend coverage: 1 weekend every 6 weeks
  • Possible call shifts, which may include weekends (to be discussed during interview)
  • Holiday coverage as needed

Job Description & Expectations

  • Upon starting, you may be assigned to an Emergency Team with an expectation to stay onsite until the event passes or be part of a relief team during emergency events.
  • General OR and Trauma experience preferred.
  • Open to first-time travel nurses.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
  • Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

  • Preferred: General Operating Room and Trauma nursing experience.
  • No explicit minimum years of experience stated; preference given to experienced OR/Trauma nurses.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid, current driver’s license or government-issued photo ID (color copy required).
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search, and education verification.
  • License verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant screenings not accepted).
  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health.
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (for select units)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or completed vaccine series)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccine series, or booster)
    • Varicella (positive titer or vaccine series)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months; chest X-ray and questionnaire if positive.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination, medical or religious exemption, or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).

Additional Requirements

  • Skills checklist and competency exam specific to specialty, updated annually.
  • Photo for badge: recent, full-color, passport-style photo with plain background.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit.
  • Employment application and resume required with 7 years of employment history and explanations for gaps.

  • Candidates must be comfortable with emergency team assignments and potential extended shifts during emergency events.
  • Certification renewals must be completed prior to start if expiring within 30 days of assignment start date.
  • Confirm unit-specific certification requirements with program management if unclear.
